Crystal Palace fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern can’t say they didn’t see this coming after their striker confirmed he will be leaving the Eagles at the end of the season.
The Mail Online have reported that Emmanuel Adebayor will leave Selhurst Park at the end of the season.
Crystal Palace will be releasing the 32-year-old at the end of the season when his contract expires.
This was after the former Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City man revealed he’d be moving on at the end of season, after their FA Cup final against Manchester United.
It would be a great send off if the Togo international can lift the FA Cup with his Palace teammates as memorable farewell.
He told the South London Press: “I’ve had six beautiful months with Palace. Pape Souare, Yohan Cabaye, Macca [James McArthur] and Jedi [Mile Jedinak] have all talked to me a lot.
“I’d love to have played more – but that’s football.
“The journey will stop in May – but that’s not the end of my journey. It is just a stop. It will continue, wherever I go to.
“I will always wish this club well. It doesn’t matter if I start the Manchester United game on the bench or the gaffer decides to put me in the stands – at the end of the day we want to win it. This club wants to win it.
“Every player – whether they start or not or are not even in the squad of 18 – want the club to win the FA Cup. It is as simple as that.”
He joined the club on a free transfer in January but found he has struggled to nail down a place in Alan Pardew’s starting 11 after signing a short-term contract.
