Crystal Place fans here in the Tavern are delighted their club have finally begun pulling away from the Premier League relegation zone after a good run of form in the league.
The Eagles have been in fine form in recent weeks and a definite high point during Sam Allardyce’s reign at the club will have been the 2-1 away win at Chelsea and the 3-0 home mauling of Arsenal at Selhurst Park.
Supporters here in the pub have been in fine voice after some terrific victories and it’s the form of one star in particular that has led the celebrations.
The man in question? Wilfried Zaha, who has been superb over the past couple of weeks.
But with good form comes transfer speculation and there might be fears that Zaha could leave the club this summer, if his strong showings continue.
His spell at Manchester United really didn’t work out though and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes the pacy winger is better off remaining at Selhurst Park for the sake of his career.
Writing in his Daily Star Column, Merson said: “Palace are a good club on the up and he’s playing the best football of his career. I don’t see much of a reason to move.
“He’s got to remember when he went to United and it all went belly up. At Palace he will play every week. It’s a short career. Make the most of it. He suits Palace,” he added.
