Crystal Palace are believed to be keen on offloading one of their players before the end of the week, although they could have some problem shifting him.
According to a report by Het Laatste Nieuws, The Eagles ‘secretly hope’ that a Chinese club will make an offer for Christian Benteke.
However, Roy Hodgson’s side could find it difficult to convince the player to leave, as it is understood the striker has no plans on leaving London.
Benteke’s time at Selhurst Park has been far from what many had anticipated and expected what it could have been.
The Belgium international arrived for a huge transfer fee of £28.08million from Liverpool in the summer of 2016 by Alan Pardew, however, he has struggled to justify the price paid for him.
The 28-year-old has managed to find the back of the net just 20 times in his 80 appearances for The Eagles and appears to be on the fringes of Hodgson’s first-team plans.
There is no real secret that things quite clearly have not worked out for Benteke in south London following his big-money move from Liverpool.
Crystal Palace wanting to offload the player does not come as a surprise either, especially following the addition of Michy Batshuayi on loan last month.
However, with the 28-year-old apparently not keen on leaving the capital, Palace could find it difficult to make him leave even if they were to receive an offer for him.
