The Crystal Palace fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are sitting by the bar scratching their heads over the game against West Brom. However, things may be looking up with The Eagles stepping up their chase for a new centre forward.
The Express are suggesting that Crystal Palace are looking at West Ham striker Andy Carroll should the deal for Christian Benteke fall flat.
They add that a fit-again Andy Carroll is keen to move away from The Hammers after the side brought in both Andre Ayew and Jonathan Calleri from Swansea and Deportivo Maldonado respectively.
Crystal Palace have been looking for a new striker throughout the summer, and their main target Christian Benteke seems to be too expensive as Palace have already had a £25 million bid rejected.
To make things worse, West Brom have also shown interest in Benteke in recent weeks and so Palace’s pursuit of the Liverpool man has hit yet another stumbling block.
Our landlord reckons that with Palace keen to land a striker and Andy Carroll happy to leave West Ham this summer – it could be the perfect opportunity for Pardew to swoop in for the Englishman.
Crystal Palace fans, we want to hear from you! Would you like Andy Carroll at your club? Or have you got your eye on somebody else? Let us know!
