Crystal Palace: Wilfried Zaha begs club to let him join Arsenal

Wilfried Zaha’s future at Crystal Palace is looking increasingly uncertain, with the 26-year-old desperate to secure a big-money move this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, he has pleaded with the south London club to let him join the team he supported as a boy, Arsenal.

But with the same outlet reporting that a reluctant Crystal Palace have slapped a huge £80m price tag on their talisman while the Gunners only have a starting budget of around £45m to spend, nothing is close to materialising just yet.

On the verge of losing Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United (as per Sky Sports), Roy Hodgson will surely be desperate to keep hold onto Zaha for at least another year. He is easily the Eagles’ most dangerous forward with no one else coming close.

For example, last season, he completed more dribbles per game in the Premier League (3.4) than any other Crystal Palace player, with Wan-Bissaka finishing the closest after averaging 1.7 (as per WhoScored).

With 1.6, no player made more key passes than Zaha either, with the Ivory Coast international finishing level with Andros Townsend and Luka Milivojevic.

Most importantly, though, he was able to find the back of the net on 10 occasions, making him Crystal Palace’s second highest goalscorer in the league behind Milivojevic.

With that ability to beat full-backs with his dribbling, create chances with his passing and score goals, Zaha quite clearly brings so much to this Eagles attack. Based on all of that, they cannot afford to lose him and must deny him of his Arsenal dream.

Crystal Palace fans, where will Zaha be playing his football next season, Selhurst Park or the Emirates? Comment below!
