Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting their side to be active in the summer, and they could be about to bring a Premier League midfielder to the squad.
And that’s because The Daily Mail are reporting that the Eagles are interested in signing James McCarthy from Everton, with the Republic of Ireland international midfielder’s days thought to be numbered at Goodison Park after a string of injury problems.
Roy Hodgson’s side, who managed to retain their top-flight status with a number of positive results, will be keen on adding a player with his experience to their team, as they look to rebuild ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.
And it appears that the London-based outfit see the £10.8 million-rated ace (as per Transfermarkt) as the ideal addition this summer, but whether they can get a deal done remains to be seen.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Crystal Palace fans in the Tavern will look to finally get their man this summer, having made multiple enquiries for him in the last couple of transfer windows – however, some of the locals will fear what he can bring to the team.
McCarthy’s last appearance for Everton came back in January when he suffered that horror leg-break injury during their match with West Bromwich Albion, and the punters will be interested to see what he can offer once he is fit.
