It’s surely becoming more and more inevitable each passing week (the Sun the latest to report that a big club are interested, two days ago) that Wilfried Zaha’s on his way out of Crystal Palace.
After having done everything humanly possible for the Eagles, he’s seemingly ready for a new adventure. For Roy Hodgson, the only bright side to this deal is he’ll get an awful lot of money in return.
The Eagles have already slapped a heavy price tag on Zaha, which has fended off wide interest. However, Arsenal seem to be really interested in adding some zest to their attack through the Ivory Coast international. Indeed, according to reports (via The Sun), the Gunners are ready to pay £40 million for Zaha, only half what Palace desire.
Instead, they’re ready to offer some players in return. Apparently, Unai Emery is ready to offload Callum Chambers, Carl Jenkinson or Reiss Nelson in exchange for Zaha’s services. Even getting two of these players along with a decent transfer fee would make their star man’s departure sting less.
You might not think that right now, Eagles, but this is about the long-term.
Nelson’s an excellent talent with the same mould as Zaha, having the eye for the spectacular. He’s also extremely quick, can ease past defenders with his dribbling skills and enjoyed a prolific season in Germany for Hoffenheim. He netted 7 goals in 23 appearances, proving to be an efficient winger.
Chambers, alone, can help stabilize their midfield and give Luka Milivojevic some breathing room in making them defensively stronger. Indeed, this is possibly the best deal the Eagles will get for Zaha. Hodgson can mould two more young talents into hard-working players and possibly create the next wing-wizard in the excellent Nelson and still have big money to play with when it comes to buying a striker.
