Many Palace fans have been discussing Roy Hodgson’s latest comments in which he talks about his plans for the squad.
The manager was talking to Sky Sports recently over a video call about his future plans with the club whilst football is currently postponed due to recent events.
During his interview, he said: “We have a very strong base with lots of good players. But if we could find a way to add a few more younger ones to that squad, a few new faces, that would inject some new blood while keeping the nucleus of the squad,” via Sky Sports.
Will Palace be backed in the transfer window?
This seems like a very wise plan for the Eagles as currently they have the second oldest squad in the Premier League, per 101greatgoals, and some young players with potential are exactly what is needed to create a balanced squad.
It looks like the club have recently started following these plans, as they bought 18 year-old Scottish midfielder Scott Banks, per Transfermarkt, whilst they have recently been linked with 21 year-old Eberechi Eze, via The Sun, and 24 year-old Ollie Watkins, via The Express.
With the summer transfer window looming, Palace fans will just have to wait and see if younger players do get brought in and whether that means other players will have to be sold.
Here is what fans had to say about Hodgson’s plans:

We have only 2 players whose contracts end June 2020 but there are 12 players whose contracts end June 2021 (7 of these are 30 or older). Going just by this there maybe some players not with the club anyway and require replacing. https://t.co/mYFgeYwNNI

The first way to get some younger faces into the squad would be to change the manager for one who believes and trusts the youth.
