Crystal Palace: Fans excited as Bromley Council approve Academy redevelopment plans - Crystal Palace

A lot of Crystal Palace fans are excited after seeing the news that Bromley Council has approved the club’s plans to redevelop the academy.

The Premier League side are hoping that the new plans will help them become a category one academy. It all seems very positive in South London both for the future and also during the present as boss Roy Hodgson recently signed a one-year contract extension, via BBC Sport, whilst on the pitch, the club have won their last three games, including beating rivals Brighton 1-0 at the AMEX, per Premier League.

Looking to youth is something that the club need to start doing, as they have the second oldest squad on average in the league, per 101 Great Goals. Palace do have a strong history when it comes to developing young players, with the likes of Wilfried Zaha, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Moses and Nathaniel Clyne all previously coming through their academy.

Now that they have been given the green light to upgrade their facilities they will hopefully be able to bring more youth players into the senior side in the future, which would help save money.

Here’s what fans had to say about the plans:

Crystal Palace fans, would you prefer to club focus on youth or spend big in the transfer window? Comment below!
