Many Crystal Palace fans responded frustratingly after Roy Hodgson subbed on Christian Benteke against Liverpool on Saturday.
The Eagles ended up losing 2-1 to the European champions after a spirited performance.
After being 1-0 down from a Sadio Mane goal, Roy Hodgson turned to Christian Benteke – who managed to score for his country during the international break – for a bit of inspiration.
Despite many Palace fans not being happy with the sub – with lots seemingly wanting some more creativity in midfield with Max Meyer sitting dormant on the bench – the Belgian was able to have a positive impact.
While he did not score or assist, his positive play on the left flank was crucial in Palace securing an equaliser against the league leaders, with Wilfried Zaha capping off a wonderful team move.
Regrettably, for the club from south east London, the Reds were able to score just a number of minutes later to sink the hearts of fans.
Despite the relative impact he had, many seemed livid when he came on the pitch, with fans on Twitter lambasting the head coach, with one even calling for the sack.
Here are some of the responses below…
