Many Palace fans have responded to an article on the Crystal Palace website which speaks about the secrets of the squad photo days.
The Palace Twitter account released the story, with the tweet “Player absentees and Photoshop jobs.
The secrets behind the squad photoshoots down the years….”
Within the story, one of Crystal Palace’s media men in Chris Grierson discusses some of the tricks which have to take place in order to keep the famous club photos intact.
According to Grierson, in 2015, Yannick Bolasie wasn’t able to attend the shoot, therefore, academy player Victor Fundi had to provide his body. After Pape Souare’s road accident a similar thing had to be done – this time Souare’s face to be edited onto the top of Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong’s body.
In another incident, Grierson references how Christian Benteke was once getting his knee scanned and how Daryl the assistant kit man replaced him in the photo. As they wanted the picture to look as realistic as possible, they had Benteke stand in the exact same position at the exact time same of the day with Grierson and the photographer taking the spaces next to him, while another member of staff held his crutches.
Within the article, fans were encouraged to guess at who was photoshopped this season, to which many fans gave their guesses, as well as others who just gave their opinion on the article.
