Many Crystal Palace fans have had their say on rumours linking away their current Sporting Director Dougie Freedman for a managerial role.
The former manager and player at the club is allegedly the running for the Hearts job which recently became vacant following Craig Levein’s departure, according to the Daily Record.
There was a mixed response from Palace fans, who have a bit of a complicated relationship with the Scotsman. As a player, he is easily considered a club legend. Indeed, he is part of a very elite club who has passed 100 goals for the club and is the Eagles’ sixth all-time goal scorers with 108 goals from 368 games, according to Holmesdale.net.
Freedman later became club manager and had some great initial success. He managed to stabilise a team so soon after they fell into administration and nearly became liquidated, and had taken them to the top of the Championship with some exciting new signings such as Mile Jedinak, Yannick Bolasie and Joel Ward.
However, while the Eagles were in the promotion spaces during the 12/13 season, he decided to jump ship from Palace to join recently relegated Bolton Wanderers, who were below them in the league, despite saying that he is “not the sort of guy to leave jobs half done” just a few days prior (The Guardian).
The club tried to keep him, but he had made up his mind. This, naturally, broke a lot of the faith from Palace fans who may have been surprised at his decision; one which saw his managerial career deteriorate while Palace got promoted into the big time and establish themselves in the Premier League.
Based on the previous information, many Palace fans are not bothered about whether he leaves or not, while others hope he does leave as they don’t think he’s doing a good enough job with transfers, as you can see below…

I don’t want all power to Roy, every single position will be filled with a 30 year old workhorse
