Crystal Palace: Fans love Roy Hodgson’s reaction to journalist

Despite the fact the transfer window is over, it seems the Wilfried Zaha saga is refusing to go away for Crystal Palace.

When asked whether he was concerned about January considering there have been links with Zaha moving away from the club (The Guardian), his response was particularly blunt and comical.

He said (via @LukeTyr on Twitter): “I’m in August for goodness sake. I don’t know what’s going to happen in September yet and you’re asking me about January; I don’t give January a thought so you’re asking the wrong man if you’re asking to get someone concerned about January – I’ll start worrying about January on December 31st.”

Zaha was subjected to mass speculation throughout the summer and had been linked with a move to a new club with both Everton and Arsenal reportedly interested. Everton stepped up the biggest offer which even pushed Zaha to hand in an official transfer request (The Guardian) to move away from the club.

Palace managed to hold onto their star man, with the reasoning being that there was no offer deemed big enough to capture him (Evening Standard).

The Eagles have since gone on to play their season opener against Everton of all teams at Selhurst Park, where they fought out a 0-0 draw in which Zaha came on for the last 25 minutes.
