Many Crystal Palace fans have responded on Twitter to an interview which Gary Cahill has given during the international break.

During the interview, the new signing complimented the squad and spoke of the team spirit within the ranks at Selhurst Park.

While speaking to the club website, Cahill said: “I’ve settled in really well; the lads have been great to me: very welcoming and an easy bunch to get on with. I could see that there was a good spirit here from the moment I arrived."

The centre-half joined the club on a free transfer this summer and has played an important part in Crystal Palace's two league wins this season.

The Eagles currently sit fourth in the Premier League after four games, winning two, drawing one and losing one. Cahill has played in just two of those games and won them both.

So far it looks as if he and Roy Hodgson have built on their good relationship established while at England. The 33-year-old was once made England captain by Hodgson, so it is clear that he is a player that he trusts massively.

Palace fans clearly had time for what he had to say, and many gave positive responses on Twitter to the interview. One fan even said that he should be picked for England before someone quickly responded saying that he had retired from international football. There was one funny response, which joked that he was a "great young prospect".
