Many Crystal Palace reacted warmly on Twitter on Sunday following an official club post highlighting former Eagles striker Kevin Phillips’ 48th birthday.

Enjoying a memorable 12 months at Selhurst Park, the former England international scored seven goals in 21 appearances for the south London club [Transfermarkt].

Of course, his most memorable action in the red and blue of Palace was his goal against Watford in the Championship play-off final in May 2013, prompting wild celebrations at Wembley [BBC].

His decisive penalty that day will be recalled as a seminal moment on the Eagles’ journey towards being an established Premier League club - they have been in the top flight ever since that summer, with the upcoming campaign being their ninth successive season at the highest level.

In light of the club's birthday post, plenty of Crystal Palace fans flocked to social media to give Phillips their best wishes.
