Crystal Palace: Fans react to Sheffield United loss - Crystal Palace

Many Crystal Palace fans flocked to Twitter to share their anger over their 1-0 loss to Sheffield United yesterday afternoon.

Fans called the club ‘disgraceful’ and ‘pathetic’ as the Eagles failed to bring home any points from Bramall Lane.

Premier League new boys Sheffield United were the better and more dominant side throughout, registering nine more shots than Palace.

John Lundstram scored the only goal of the game after David McGoldrick’s shot was parried by Vicente Guaita into the feet of the midfielder, making no mistake in slotting the ball into a gaping net.

Wilfried Zaha started for the first time since handing in a transfer request at Selhurst Park, but failed to make a significant impact and didn’t have a single shot on target.

Manager Roy Hodgson said in a post-match press conference: “We didn’t look great in the second half but in the first half wasn’t such a poor performance; I thought we were more than worth our 0-0 at half-time. There were moments in and around their penalty area where I thought we might do some damage by getting the ball in Wilf’s feet and Christian’s feet.

“But second half, especially after the goal, we seemed to lose that composure and to some extent the passing quality we had in the first half and as a result it became fairly easy for Sheffield United to protect their victory and win the match.”

Palace fans on Twitter reacted with fury to a club’s tweet announcing the final score. Many claimed that Palace were already going down and there were almost endless negative adjectives used to summarise the performances from the Eagles, half of which are not appropriate enough to put in here.

Here are some of the appropriate responses below…
