Crystal Palace: Fans reminisce over victory which relegated Cardiff - Crystal Palace

A Tweet posted by Crystal Palace showing highlights of the club’s victory against Cardiff last campaign has seen lot of the fan base praise the great performance.

The game was played out on 4th May 2019, via BBC Sport, and did not fail to entertain. Wilfried Zaha put the Eagles 1-0 up however three minutes later Martin Kelly’s own goal levelled the scores. Just before half-time, Chelsea loanee Michy Batshuayi’s strike meant Palace claimed the lead again, and they put the game to bed thanks to Andros Townsend.

A consolation goal from Bobby Decordova-Reid in the last minute gave the Welsh side some hope but they could not find the equaliser. The result meant that Cardiff were relegated straight back to the Championship after recently gaining promotion the campaign before, via BBC Sport.

For the South London side, the win gave them a somewhat strange record to hold as over the previous two seasons, their victories against Stoke, Huddersfield and Cardiff towards the end of the campaigns have mathematically relegated the trio, via Premier League.
