Steve Parish would have regretted missing out on a few players in his time at the club – but there can’t be many as frustrating as Jamie Vardy.
The former England striker is currently top of the Premier League goal charts with 10 from 11 at the ripe age of 32.
In the summer of 2012, he joined Leicester City for a fee of just £1.12m, but he was linked to Selhurst Park six months prior within this Daily Mail article, saying that he was set to join Dougie Freedman’s Palace for £750k while going back on loan to Fleetwood for the rest of the season.
With Vardy now being at the King Power for nearly eight years, he is undoubtedly a club legend. His 282 games for Leicester have seen him score a mammoth 117 goals, while also assisting 46. He is just 10 short of reaching the illustrious 100 club in the Premier League – hugely impressive considering he made his Premier League debut aged 27.
A Palace fan on Twitter, @workbycharles, found the story and posted it on Twitter, to which many fans responded wondering what could have been.
