Crystal Palace: Fans respond to respected journalist’s claims that club are ready to spend
Many Crystal Palace fans have had their say after respected journalist Dominic Fifield has suggested that the Eagles are ready to splash the cash in the January window.
Do you trust Steve Parish to spend in January?
Yes

No

The Athletic journalist recently wrote a story stating that “progress is understood to have been made” on the front of signing a new full-back in both positions, as well as a central forward. Fifield said that “they have received encouraging noises, and there is optimism that additions can be made”.
Despite this, Palace fans have their doubt about the business that will get done in January, with one suggesting that forwards are not even needed as they don’t have any chances to finish with the defensive-minded midfield that is regularly put out. Another fan suggested that a forward should be top of the list for the club, while others just simply don’t believe that they will do any business.
There was a hugely mixed response from the fanbase; lots of different people asking for lots of different things – suggesting that it might be difficult to please every fan this January. There was one thing they all agree on, though – and that’s that they need reinforcements in the upcoming window.
Here are some of the replies below…
Will we though Dom? A backdrop of uncertainty behind the scenes and seemingly little confidence that more than one of the problem positions will be filled.

Is this a new tweet or was it written last year, the year before or the year before that? 🙂

I’d have quality width at the top of the shopping list. It’s embarrassing how little flair and creativity we have apart from Wilf. Until January we should go 433 with Zaha and Ayew either side of Benteke.

Striker has to be our number 1 priority who’s scoring the goals right now? It would be good to get some younger fullbacks since our whole back line is old. Potentially we look at a Zaha replacement

This “we need a centre forward” is a total myth. Ayew is doing fine. In fact I’d say he’s putting away chances regularly. The issue is we aren’t creating any chances. Mbappe could have played against Leicester and Chelsea and not had a sniff. The lifeless midfield is the issue

Brilliant, lets strengthen in January when teams are more reluctant to sell players and value them at 3 times the amount

We knew the imbalance before this run of fixtures. We also have different types of players, yet the options are ignored.
