Crystal Palace: Fans want Max Meyer to be given more opportunities
Many Crystal Palace fans feel like Max Meyer has not been given enough chances since he arrived on a free transfer from Schalke in July 2018.
The creative midfielder has struggled to make an impact in the 51 appearances he has made for the club, scoring twice and assisting three times, per Transfermarkt, but fans believe that this is due to the fact that he’s rarely bee given a sustained run in the side.
As per WhoScored, Roy Hodgson has prefered to operate with a five-man defensive midfield with Meyer not featuring more often than not, with him only featuring regularly in a 4-4-2 system, which has only been used twice.
The future of Meyer will be interesting to see play out, as his contract runs out in 2021, per Transfermarkt, so the South London side will have to make the decision whether to let him go on a free next year, give him a new contract, or see if they can sell him in the upcoming transfer window.
