The Isaac Hayden transfer saga keeps on rolling as it grows even more evident the talented midfielder is set on leaving Newcastle United in the summer.

However, Crystal Palace have seemingly suddenly turned their attention towards him to bolster their temperamental midfield next season.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, the Eagles are interested in signing the 24-year-old midfielder who's been a bright part of the Magpies' resurgence in the second half of the season. Right now, Palace are quite understaffed in central midfield, where Luka Milivojevic and James McArthur are slowly running out of steam.

As a result, Roy Hodgson’s side have been overrun and outworked in midfield by younger midfielders. Hodgson needs a vibrant, energetic figure who can use his physical acumen to resist against pressure. Indeed, Hayden definitely fits the calibre, often known for his diligent work in midfield.

The engine room just needs a refresh, frankly, and bringing the former Arsenal man back to London makes total sense as the Eagles look to enjoy life in the Premier League, rather than endure it for much of the campaign.

The 24-year-old’s a real workhorse in midfield, boasting prime game-reading ability which allows him to stop attacking moves at the right time. He’s averaged 3 tackles, 1.7 interceptions, 80% passing accuracy (stats via WhoScored) per game this season, putting in some emphatic displays to torment opposition midfielders. Much like McArthur, Hayden knows how to a stubborn thorn for oppositions.

He’s also pretty creative and can drive forward whenever necessary, giving him a dynamic presence not many possesses at Selhurst Park. Composed on the ball, a player of his profile can help calm things down, giving Hodgson more of a link between their fairly decent defence and lethal counter-attack. That's been a big issue for the club for a number of years now, so Hayden's potential arrival would certainly address that.

The 24-year-old can work wonders under Hodgson’s encouraged, attacking system and help bring some stability to Palace’s fairly weak midfield. Hayden’s the strong-willed player Hodgson needs to form a rebellious outlook which can make the Eagles a difficult side to dominate.

Wouldn't that be nice?
