As quoted by The Croydon Advertiser, former Crystal Palace idol Andy Johnson has said that Christian Benteke will come good for the club this season.
The quotes are certainly being held on to desperately by our Palace fans here in the Transfer Tavern at the moment, with them seriously worried that the Eagles are going to face the drop this year out of the Premier League.
After a brief spell of good form earlier on in this campaign that saw them in the top half of the division, they have embarked on another shocking run of form, indicative of their 2016 as a whole.
Many felt the Eagles could have gone down last season had their first half of the year not saved them and so now they are looking over their shoulders with deeper and deeper concern.
Part of the reason they have been so poor recently is the fact that the goals have dried up for their marquee summer signing Benteke but one of their former forwards, Johnson, believes he will come good again if he gets the service from his team-mates:
“I have always been a fan.” Johnson said.
“He is big, strong and offers a different dimension. He is great in the air and he has already showed that in key games, like that great header at Everton.”
“If you can get him the service, he will score goals.”
Palace will hope they can get it right for the Belgian this weekend as they travel to Swansea for a crucial game, one touted as a make-or-break meeting for manager Alan Pardew.
