Roy Hodgson will be hoping the signing of Michy Batshauyi can steer his side clear of the Premier League relegation zone.
The Eagles boss was desperate to bolster his forward options during the January transfer window but funds were limited. After a move for Dominic Solanke failed, Hodgson was left short of options. However, the club managed to secure a loan deal for the Belgium international after his temporary spell with Valencia was cut short following just one goal in La Liga.
Batshuayi’s arrival will be a massive boost to the side who have been overly reliant on Wilfred Zaha in the final third for too long. Palace could face a real battle to secure his services permanently in the summer if he impresses with Everton also admirers of the forward. Hodgson could once again be forced into the transfer market for an attacker.
One man he should go all out to sign is Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham. Valued at £9m by Transfermarkt, the striker was once again farmed out on loan in the summer, linking up with John Terry at Aston Villa. Abraham has lit up the Championship during his temporary stay, scoring a fantastic 19 goals in just 24 appearances so far this season.
Despite his impressive form, Abraham clearly hasn’t done enough to force himself into Maurizio Sarri’s plans with the Italian opting to sign 31-year-old Gonzalo Higuain in January. The 21-year-old could once again be searching for a new club, perhaps on a permanent basis and Palace would be a wonderful home. Abraham is a deadly finisher and would link up perfectly with Zaha in the Eagles attack.
The England U21 international has the potential to be special and Palace should end their striking woes once and for all by securing his signature in the summer.
