Crystal Palace plot cheeky £7m bid for lethal forward, Stoke and Spurs also monitoring situation

The Crystal Palace fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports the club could be set to make a move for a new striker addition this summer.

That’s because the Daily Mail is reporting that the FA Cup runners up are considering making a cut price £7m offer for West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino.

Eagles boss Alan Pardew is thought to be a long-term admirer of the 22-year old and reportedly tried to lure him to Newcastle United during his tenure at St James Park.

The forward was a target for Tottenham Hotspur last summer, though has failed to hit the heights he set in his first full season at The Hawthorns after a failed move to White HartLlane.

Now, it appears Baggies boss Tony Pulis is set to cut his losses and let the striker leave the club this summer to avoid any dressing room unrest for next season’s campaign.

With just a year left on his deal, the England under-21 could leave the Midlands for a much smaller fee than the type a figure he commanded just a few months ago.

The Toon Army were believed to have had a £21m bid for him snubbed as recently as January.

Both Stoke City and Watford are also said to be interested in taking Berahino to their respective clubs this summer.

Has Berahino damaged his stock beyond repair?
