Our resident Crystal Palace supporters in the Transfer Tavern are uncertain about Bakary Sako’s future at the club, despite his heroics before a serious injury cruelly cut short his campaign in south London.
According to the Croydon Advertiser, the Eagles aren’t sure about what Bakary Sako’s future at the club and discussing a new deal is not thought to be a priority. The Mali international’s contract expires with the South London club at the end of the season. However, the 29-year-old suffered an injury against West Ham United that will keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season.
The former Wolves winger has been an effective option for Roy Hodgson’s team this season having scored a total of six goals in 19 games for Palace this season. It’s possible to suggest that Palace’s standing at the end of the season will be an important factor in the decision to keep Sako at the club or not, such is the nature of the whole of the bottom half.
At the age of 29, Sako still has the ability to perform for the next three years. He has sufficient experience and quality to be a useful option for Palace, though it’ll be interesting to see if he returns from such a bad injury with the same sort of explosiveness that made him so difficult to deal with prior to his ailment.
