As reported by Sky Sports, Wilfried Zaha has made himself available for selection for the Ivory Coast national side, seemingly ending his England career.
It has come as further frustration to our Eagles fans here in the Transfer Tavern who are already enduring a tough campaign with their 5-4 loss to Swansea at the weekend fresh on their minds.
They thought at least having Zaha available to one day play once again for England could cheer them up but that eventuality looks to be in serious doubt right now.
The winger has made two appearances for the Three Lions so far in his career but as they were both in friendlies he could still make the change, given also that he was born in the Ivory Coast’s largest city Abidjan.
Indeed, the change appears to have be caused by the winger’s frustration of a lack of call-ups since those friendly games against Sweden and Scotland, something his club manager Alan Pardew has recently referred to.
“I can understand his frustration.” Pardew said.
“He’s played with [England] players who are picked at that level, and feels he deserves another chance.”
It’s been a pretty tough few weeks for our Palace fans here in the Transfer Tavern with their latest loss to Swansea leaving them right in the relegation battle, with only goal difference keeping them out of the bottom three.
Could Zaha have played more for England Palace fans? Let us know below!
