Crystal Palace fans will have been worried over the weekend as they saw reports start to circulate suggesting Vicente Guaita could be gone in the summer.

The Spaniard is being linked to a club he knows very well, as AS are reporting that La Liga side Valencia are very keen on signing the goalkeeper.

The news goes on to say that Los murcelagos have already contacted the player to find out whether he would be interested in the move.

Guaita started his football career at Valencia, making his way from the academy to the senior side to make his professional debut back in 2008, via Transfermarkt. He went on to make 113 appearances, keeping 38 clean sheets before moving to Getafe and eventually signing on a free for the Eagles in 2018.

He has really shone for the South London club, and very quickly turned into a fan favourite, making 47 appearances and keeping 16 clean sheets in England's top flight, per Premier League.  He has found himself on the winning side 20 times, as well as being  involved in 12 draws. There is no doubt a fair few of these results have been due to some world-class saves like the one he made at Burnley, via Your Local Guardian.

These heroic performances highlight that instead of feeling like they need to sell the goalkeeper this summer because he will be able to leave for free when his contract expires in 2021, they should be doing everything to make sure they keep him. This is due to the fact that Crystal Palace sit so comfortable in the table (11th), via SofaScore, and a lot of the reason behind this is due to him.

It also doesn't really matter if he leaves on a free in 2021, because the club acquired him on a free transfer in the first place and with the player now 33, via Transfermarkt, he is near the end of his career so they wouldn't be able to get much for him anyway.

Those connected with Palace will hope that the 33-year-old doesn't want to leave because he has a great connection with the fanbase and has made the number one spot his own at the Eagles.
