Hodgson should move for Dendoncker and Batshuayi soon

Whether it be in or January or in the upcoming transfer windows, Roy Hodgson should look two bring a pair of talents to Selhurst Park.

Roy Hodgson was not blessed with spending power in the summer, only splashing out funds on defensive midfield reinforcement in Cheikhou Kouyate.

For Crystal Palace to not only stay up in the coming seasons but to build on each season and develop as a team, Steve Parish will need to carefully pick out some players that can take the onus off Wilfried Zaha within the squad.

With that being said, Hodgson should look to try and sign this DUO as soon as possible…

Leander Dendoncker

This will not be achievable in January, but if Leander Dendoncker is still warming the bench at the Molineux come the summer, there is no reason why Palace should not try and make a move for the Belgian.

Adept at either centre-back or holding midfielder as seen during the World Cup, he should be provided with a starting spot and could particularly help especially with one of Palace’s main downfalls.

When the Eagles win the ball back from deep in games and look to set Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha off on the counter-attack, a lack of composure on the ball is often the case as the ball is fired back to the opponent or out of play, rather than finding their teammate.

This is where Dendoncker comes into his own in the transition to attack due to such ability on the ball and the 23-year-old would also help Palace be a lot more assured in possession. Obviously, it is a longshot, but if the deal was to come off it would be a remarkable move.

Michy Batshuayi

This deal is more realistic in terms of if and when it could happen, and it could be as early as this January. Michy Batshuayi has not been able to match his seven goals in 10 games for Borussia Dortmund around a year ago during his loan in Valencia.

The 25-year-old has just three goals in 21 games in all competitions for the Spanish outfit. If Chelsea were to terminate the loan early, a move to Palace, where he could regain his scoring form in England and be an almost guaranteed starter for a team that has been crying out for a striker, would be a fantastic move.

Batshuayi, like Dendoncker, has an incredible potential that there has been glimpses of, but it could be helped in South London significantly. The development of Zaha at Palace is a prime example and if they were able to emulate such a rise in performances, they could become key components of the side.
