Things got off to a perfect start for the Eagles, as they overcame newly-promoted Fulham 2-0 at Craven Cottage.

Whilst Fulham enjoy large amounts of possession in the match, from the moment they scored, the Eagles looked to be in control of the match. After keeping hold of key target Wilfried Zaha, the Ivorian repaid the Eagles desperation to keep him at the club with the second goal at Craven Cottage, assisted by the young wonderkid Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

This start got things off to a much needed steady start for the Eagles, last season, the South London outfit lost all seven of their opening fixtures without scoring.

Crystal Palace's next fixture sees Klopp's free-flowing Liverpool visit Selhurst Park. Roy Hodgson will need to produce a real tactical masterclass to take any points from such a talented Liverpool side.

Due to making signings late on in the window, some were not quite ready for action in the opening fixture of the season. Despite Palace's successes against Fulham, it is likely Roy will make some changes for the game against the Anfield outfit.

Christian Benteke

A player likely to be dropped is ex-Liverpool man Christian Benteke.

The big Belgian target man is enduring a real goal drought for the Eagles. Even his hold-up play last season was highly questionable on many occasions.

After signing Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew on a season-long loan, Hodgson may want to go with a striker with more of a habit of goal scoring. Keeping a clean sheet against Liverpool is highly unlikely, so Hodgson will want to go with forward options with a real ability to find the net.

James McArthur

James McArthur is a very solid Premier League player, there is no doubt. However, now Palace have signed the highly talented 22-year-old Max Meyer, Hodgson is likely going to want to use his creative talents.

For some box-to-box midfield energy, Hodgson will likely also be tempted to play Cheikhou Kouyate, whom he signed from West Ham United. James McArthur is a tidy midfield player who will help Palace keep possession, but in a game such as the challenge Liverpool present, he will almost certainly be dropped in favour of Meyer or Kouyate.
