With their top flight status secure, Crystal Palace alike others around them can now focus on planning for the upcoming transfer window. Surely, it’s going to get better than merely guaranteeing survival every year.
Indeed, it’s a time that holds a lot of potential for Crystal Palace, as they know the right additions and sales can make all the difference next season.
A fire-sale isn’t necessary at Selhurst Park, though an injection of quality will be something Roy Hodgson looks to bring into his starting line-up. The Eagles at times have looked brilliant this season, much thanks to the constant flair in attack provided by Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha but also because of the stable defensive partnership Mamadou Sakho and James Tomkins have formed.
With talk about a return to PSG (as per Goal) already circulating around Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace must be quick to take action in a bid to stop Sakho from leaving.
Sakho, (who is valued at £13.5 million on Transfermarkt) remains ever important in the Eagles backline and if they really want to progress, they cannot allow the former Liverpool ace to leave this summer.
Having suggested he wants to play Champions League football, it may be a tough battle for Crystal Palace to keep the Frenchman at the club.
Due to his success in a Palace shirt, he made his way back into the French national team a little while ago but he must be kept grounded because Crystal Palace is where he can shine and be the main man.
The 29-year-old has always given his very best to Palace and for significant progress to be made during the upcoming transfer window, the Eagles must keep their best players, rather than letting them go.
