Crystal Palace have made a respectable start to the new Premier League but without their most potent attacking threat Wilfried Zaha in the side, they look a completely different side.
Last season they didn’t pick up a single league point without Zaha in the side, something that tells the story of how much the Eagles are reliant on their star man.
The pressure understandably is mounting on Wilfried Zaha to continue to deliver but without much squad depth, when he isn’t able to play, Palace need a plan B.
A plan B has to be recruited in January seeing as Sako was released so a wide player must be brought in. Liverpool outcast Lazar Markovic could be a good contender for the role despite not being up to the high standard of the Ivorian.
Markovic, who is valued at £7.2 million on Transfermarkt, has had a turbulent time in England to say the least and after last season going out on-loan to Belgian giants Anderlecht, it seems only a matter of time before a move away from Anfield becomes a permanent one.
The 24-year-old does possess a great deal of quality when he is on top form, which was best shown during his loan spell with Hull back in 2017. Given the chance to showcase his ability to the rest of the English teams, Markovic took it with open hands and with great pace and dribbling ability, he was a threat for Hull in their darkest hour.
Crystal Palace wouldn’t be making too much of a gamble considering he wouldn’t cost that much and when Wilfried Zaha isn’t able to play, Markovic can possess the quality to step in and put in a shift for the Eagles.
