With the Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern excited about life under Frank De Boer, they are once again optimistic of establishing themselves as a top-half Premier League club.
Alan Pardew’s revolution never truly got underway and, while Sam Allardyce managed to save them from relegation, the idea of developing under a respected tactician such as the Dutchman really has our resident Eagles dreaming about the next stage in their project.
Which is why reports from the Daily Mail have been met with such applause. They claim the south London outfit have reopened talks with Arsenal over a potential move for Calum Chambers. A £16m offer for the 22-year-old is understood to have been snubbed, with the Gunners reportedly holding out for closer to £2om, though there is said to be a hope a resolution can be found.
While the former Southampton man hasn’t quite embarked on the upward trajectory he set himself on during his breakthrough season on the south coast, he impressed on loan with Middlesbrough last term and is thought to be a target at Selhurst Park. With options in central defence fairly limited, the idea of seeing Chambers line up for the club has proved exciting.
