Terrible news for Crystal Palace emerges amid survival fight

Crystal Palace fans here in the Tavern have enjoyed this season’s revival under Roy Hodgson, as they look to ensure Premier League survival at all costs.

The Eagles started the current Premier League season in the worst fashion possible, as a five-game losing streak was finally snapped against defending champions Chelsea. And, since then things have picked up for Roy Hodgson’s side as they’ve now bridged a four-point gap from the relegation zone, which can be mainly put down to the efforts of one of their star men Wilfried Zaha who’s been a revelation at Selhurst Park this season. However, there could be trouble on the horizon for Palace, as according to reports in the Guardian, Wilfried Zaha is set to visit a knee specialist.

As arguably Crystal Palace’s star man so far this season, the 25-year-old could be out for a significant period of time after suffering a knee injury in the weekend’s encounter with Newcastle. Indeed, the Ivory Coast international is set to see a specialist on Tuesday in what is anxious times for Palace fans, as they await official confirmation on the exact time they’ll have to be without their beloved Zaha. Although, after originally being sent for a scan on Monday to discover the extent of the injury, he’s now been referred for further treatment with it looking like he’s expected to miss at least four weeks of action.

Indeed, at a time where the Eagles already suffered the loss of in-form man Bakary Sako for the rest of the season, seeing another one of their attacking talents sit out on the sidelines could be huge in terms of the club’s survival come the end of the season.

Landlord’s Verdict:

This is the one player that Palace fans wouldn’t have wanted to see suffer an injury, as one of the main contributors for the goals scored this season. And, with him finding some of the best form he’s managed to produce in the entirety of his career, this has come at completely the wrong time for Roy Hodgson with the possibility of relegation now coming back into question.
