Crystal Palace enjoyed a mixed transfer window this summer in which they addressed some of the clear problems, but still fell short with a few of their targets.

Up front there was a clear problem with Conor Wickham, their only relatively recognised striker so Alan Pardew signed Loic Remy and Christian Benteke late in the window.

However, the Eagles have looked solid in defence over the last few years and despite finding themselves at the bottom end of the table after the first few games this season, there is reason to be optimistic in South London.

They reached the FA Cup Final last season for the first time since 1990 and despite losing out to Manchester United once again, there was a huge and boisterous support at Wembley.

If they can come with the same enthusiasm this season, the punters here at the Football Transfer Tavern see no reason that they can't have a decent season.

They have some very good players throughout the squad but the landlord came up with these THREE as being the most underrated....

Scott Dann

The centre back has been a rock at the back of the Palace defence for two years now since signing in January 2014.

At the club, he seems to get the recognition he deserves but in terms of the wider public's recognition of his service, we feel he gets very little praise.

He was fundamental to Birmingham when they enjoyed their best ever run in the Premier League and he's replicated that form most of the time whilst at Palace.

The 6 ft 5 defender always puts his body on the line to save his team and from time to time, he even nips in with a few goals of his own.

At the Tavern, we've all agreed he's someone we'd like in our team and if you were making your fantasy football team right now, we'd probably include him.

Jonny Williams

The Welshman has only made 12 Premier League appearances for the Eagles since they won in the Championship Play-off final in 2012-13.

Instead, he's been shipped off on loan to Ipswich Town, Nottingham Forest and MK Dons during that time.

Despite that, the Palace fans still refer to him as 'Jonniesta' as do some of the players.

However, Alan Pardew hasn't given him the run of games he probably needs in order to show what he can do.

He was fantastic for Wales during their magnificent Euro 2016 endeavours and most Palace fans were eager for him to get a run in the first team.

The sprightly midfielder rejoined Ipswich Town for a second loan spell though.

If he returns to Selhurst Park once again after his loan move and is given an extended chance by Pardew, the 22-year-old really would impress.

Joel Ward

In a similar way to Scott Dann, Joel Ward is one of Palace's most consistent performers and yet, he is not given the recognition he deserves.

To most spectators, he goes under the radar seamlessly but the reason for that is because he is one of the Eagles most dependable and yet unspectacular players.

However, you shouldn't need to be a Sergio Aguero to get the recognition you deserve and the Palace full back is one of their better performers.

He is strong in defence and has really made that full back slot his own.

Ward is also decent going forward though, and with new signing Christian Benteke, he now has a strong and efficient focal point for most of his crosses.

Ward is another one of those we think would be a consistent performer for your fantasy team, occasionally even nabbing a few goals of his own.
