Welcome news for Crystal Palace on the injury front (not Zaha)

Crystal Palace fans here in the Tavern are feeling anxious ahead of today’s clash against London rivals Chelsea, with the Eagles desperate for a victory to get their season back on track.

Palace are in a spot of bother after going six games without a win in the Premier League, with Monday’s performance against Manchester United causing for many of our local residents to fear the worst. Although, there’s been some positive developments on the injury front for the London club, after feeling the effects of an injury crisis at Selhurst Park.

Indeed, striker Connor Wickham has been out since November of last season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury, but fitness expert Ben Dinnery has revealed some promising news on Twitter for Crystal Palace fans.

According to Dinnery, Wickham was back in training on Thursday after 468 days out on the sidelines.

This is great news for Roy Hodgson after witnessing Christian Benteke’s goalscoring woes so far this season, with the Englishman being a valuable addition if he can make a return for the closing stages of the season. And, with Palace in the midst of a relegation dogfight, they’ll do everything they can to nurse the 24-year-old back to full fitness as soon as possible. Indeed, many of our local residents are extremely pleased about the striker’s return to the training, having shown he has what it takes to score goals in the top-flight prior to his injury.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Crystal Palace have received a huge boost with a proven goalscorer now back in training, with the Eagles wanting to see him in the squad as soon as possible in order to have a positive impact on their survival bid. And, as one of the Premier League’s lowest scoring teams, the striker’s return to the training pitches will offer hope to many.
