Vicente Guaita has been one of Crystal Palace’s standout players this season, forming part of a very sturdy defence down in south London.
In the Premier League, the Eagles have the sixth-best defensive record after conceding 32 goals in 29 appearances (via WhoScored) and the Spaniard has certainly played his part. He has kept nine clean sheets and made 88 saves along the way, leaving him in the top 10 for both areas.
Furthermore, it is unsurprising to hear talk of other clubs being interested in him. Back in January, AS (via Sport Witness) reported that Chelsea were keen on signing the Palace shot-stopper as a replacement for veteran Willy Caballero, while the same outlet (also via Sport Witness) also claimed a month prior that Manchester City had him in their sights.
At either club, Guaita could find game time hard to come by, especially the latter with Ederson easily one of the leading goalkeepers in world football — he kept an incredible 20 clean sheets in the Premier League last season, just one behind Golden Glove winner Alisson.
Can Crystal Palace afford to lose Vicente Guaita?
But even so, you could not blame the former Valencia man for wanting to move to an outfit like Manchester City. At 33 years of age, a transfer to the Etihad or Stamford Bridge could provide him with the chance to win some silverware before he calls it a day.
So if interest is still there in the summer, do not be surprised to see Guaita lining up for another Premier League outfit in the 2020/21 campaign.
