Crystal Palace fans in the Transfer Tavern will be cautiously optimistic that their side can beat the drop and will be looking ahead to their clash with fellow strugglers AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Eagles have turned things around since Roy Hodgson took over at Selhurst Park and currently sit just outside the bottom three with a two-point gap between them and Southampton. Their match against the Cherries will be crucial as they know a win would help to ease some of the pressure as they head into the final few games of the season.
However, that match will have been made an even tougher contest with the news coming out from The Sun. The media outlet are stating that Christian Benteke has been ruled out of the trip to the Vitality Stadium with a groin injury he suffered during training.
The 27-year-old has become a key part of Hodgson’s set up, having started every game since Christmas, however, his performances have not always been as good as some would expect, missing a number of glorious chances to help Palace’s woes.
Palace fans in the Tavern will be disappointed that Benteke has suffered an injury at this crucial stage of the season, however, they will be pleased that Wilfried Zaha is back from his own medical issues and can help to lead the line with January signing Alexander Sorloth, who has been out with fatigue.
Crystal Palace fans, what do you make of Benteke’s untimely injury? Let us know below!
