Dabo On The Verge Of Portsmouth Switch?

Mouhamadou DaboYou can hear a pin drop in The Transfer Tavern as the shock news emerges that Portsmouth are close to signing, rather than selling, a player.

Our French pals at L’Equipe have assured us that Saint-Etienne full-back Mouhamadou Dabo is “close” to joining Paul Hart’s side.

“Pompey have made a consequential offer to the ‘Greens’ for a player who is nearing the end of his contract and has refused an extension,” reads the report.

Dabo had “previously been targeted” by Ligue 1 rivals Lyon along with Bayern Munich and Valencia. The deal for the 22-year-old “will be completed” when Sulaiman Al-Fahim completes his takeover of Portsmouth.

Former Marseille midfielder Modeste M’Bami and ex-Paris Saint-Germain winger Fabrice Pancrate, who are both free agents, are on trial at Pompey.

So how many pints of 1664 were sunk before this story found its way onto the page? Could Dabo really be the man to fill Glen Johnson’s boots at the Premier League club? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
