West Ham United have really began to pick up under new manager David Moyes, and the Hammers fans here in the Tavern will be hoping that 2018 can yield far more success than 2017 did for the London club.
Former Man United and Everton manager Moyes seems to have instilled some passion back into the squad, and is getting the best out of players who had previously looked short of any sort of confidence in a Hammers shirt.
With the end of the January window fast approaching, Moyes will no doubt be looking to make a few late additions to his squad, and following the big money loan addition of Joao Mario this week, he might well need to look closer to home for further signings.
One player who has been catching our landlord’s eye this season has been Sheffield United defender Jack O’Connell, who has continued his fine form from last season into the Championship to become one of the stand-out centre backs.
The former Brentford man is integral to the Blades and Chris Wilder, and his style of play, where he frequently steps out from the back and helps overload in attack, is something not many players and clubs seem to employ in their gameplans.
O’Connell though looks destined for the top flight, and he might well be open to a move back down south. With West Ham needing reinforcements and looking to keep within some sort of budget, O’Connell could represent the ideal sort of signing for Moyes and the Hammers.
West Ham fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
