Dalglish Scouting £20M Striking Star But Will John Henry Fund It?

So far since King Kenny’s much heralded return to Anfield’s top job he’s enjoyed more than his fair share of financial backing from Billionaire owner John Henry.

Despite having spent over £100 million of his boss’ money Dalglish’s side look further away than ever from returning Liverpool to the elite of European football, yet rumours continue of another sumer spending spree being in the Anfield pipeline.

If John Henry really does have more money than sense there may well be some truth in the Daily Mirror’s  story that Liverpool are ready to make a move for Anderlecht’s £20 million striker Matias Suarez.

The Daily Mirror believe that 23 year-old Suarez is fast emerging as Liverpool’s top transfer target for the summer after managing an impressive 18 goals and 16 assists in 37 appearances so far this season.  And if there’s one thing the Merseyside men badly need its goals. King Kenny’s men have now lost 5 of their last 6 games and have struggled to turn chances into goals not only in the last 6 games but all season long.

Matias Suarez could help end Liverpool’s toil in front of goal from next season, however The Mirror report that Liverpool’s technical director Damien Comolli was shocked to hear the transfer fee Anderlecht were demanding for a player yet to prove himself at the highest level. Anderlecht’s manager is quoted with stating:

“There are 15 top clubs prepared to pay the money we want for Suarez and the fee could be higher than the money we received from Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku last year.”

But if John Henry’s previous exploits during his stint as Liverpool owner are anything to go by it seems that cost will not be a obstacle in the pursuit of repeating the club’s former glories.
