Rumours in Italy claim that Liverpool has expressed an interest in Napoli forward Ezequiel Lavezzi as Dalglish adds the finishing touches to his new look forward line.
The 25 year old has been in fine form this season with five goals in 22 games and an impressive 10 assists. Dubbed “El Pocho” (the Chubby One) due to his stocky demeanour in his early days, he was dubbed the new Maradona by the media but personally refuted the claims explaining that he was more like Carlos Tevez.
Definitely a player who subscribes to the Creole football style, Lavezzi is a skilful individualist who likes to express himself on the pitch. He usually plays slightly behind the striker as more of a second forward and would give Liverpool some more options upfront.
With Liverpool already £55 million lighter after buying Carroll and Suarez it would seem unlikely that King Kenny will be prioritizing strikers in the summer. If any deal does go through it would probably mean the end for Ngog.
Whether Lavezzi would be interested in a move or not is up in the air with Napoli close behind AC Milan in the title race. If Napoli clinched Champions League football – which looks likely – with Liverpool missing out on fourth place then the odds would be stacked against the Reds.
The Argentina international would have a decision on his hands, however, if Liverpool were to match Napoli’s success in the league as a place in the Premier League could prove to be too good to turn down.
