Not content with two new strikers this season, Liverpool are now chasing Napoli’s Ezequiel Iván Lavezzi. The silky Argentine is seen by Kenny Dalglish as a player who can offer something a little different to the Anfield ranks.
The striker, not known for his outstanding scoring records, is very creative in the final third of the pitch. He is a fan favourite at the Stadio San Paolo with exceptional skills, great technique and electrifying pace. Perhaps seen as more of a provider for other players to feed off, his support to Carroll and Suarez could provide Liverpool with a deadly frontline.
Lavezzi scores on average 1 in every 3 games for Napoli and is currently rated at between €10/€15 million by his current employers. With NESV set to offer Dalglish more cash in the summer it is believed the Argentine will be the first on his list of potential targets.
This could mean the possible exits of Dirk Kuyt and David Ngog as the Glaswegian continues to improve the quality of Liverpool’s squad up front. Ngog hasn’t started a game under the Dalglish and while Kuyt has returned to a more central role, he is not in the manager’s long term plans.
Liverpool have over relied on Fernando Torres goals in the last couple of seasons but with Carroll, Suarez and possibly Lavezzi, this is sure to provide ample goals Liverpool need to back amongst the Premier League Elite.
