Yes… you guessed it. The Guardian have suggested that once again Liverpool are rumoured to be on the verge of bringing Ashley (not so) Young anymore to Anfield offering a fee of around £15 million.
Season after season, after season Young appears to be on his way making the trip to Merseyside, but I have the feeling that this time around Liverpool fans might finally get to see what all the fuss is about, as he finally swaps the claret and blue for the famous red jersey.
Villa fan favourite Young is out of contract at the end of next season and has failed to sit down and agree to sign a new deal which may force the club to sell, or risk the possibility of him leaving the west midlands on a free next summer.
Manchester United and Spurs have also been linked with him but it is believed Liverpool are favourites as they are willing to up his £65,000 a week wage and offer regular first team football. The Daily mail has also claimed “Young is a top priority for Liverpool”.
The 25 year old would be a hot prospect for the price, (not sure about the wage bill!!!) and with the likes of Andy Carroll to aim for, young could prove the perfect provider in Liverpool’s bid for success. He has made 183 appearances finding the net 37 times with 54 assists during his career at Villa Park. Villa have had a poor season by their standards sitting 14th in the table and don’t look like the ambitious side hungry to break into Europe they did under Martin O’Neil.
King Kenny has an eye for English talent and is also lining up the likes of Charlie Adam, Gary Cahill and Blackburn’s Phil Jones as he continues to give the club a face lift and turn the frown upside down, that was left by Roy Hodgson.
I believe Dalglish will finally put the speculation to bed, and am expecting to see the playmaker at Anfield for the new season.
