With the possibility of Adebayor not renewing his contract despite his public tweets of hope, Tottenham have been looking at possible replacements since last summer when Peter Crouch left the club.
Tottenham have made it public knowledge that they expect to spend in the forthcoming window commencing with the purchase of Vertonghen expecting to go through rather soon.
However, one of the most unexpected names to be linked to the North London club is Leandro Damiao, a 22 year old Brazilian international. The striker recently said, “There comes a time when you need to go, but I don’t know whether it is that time. If an offer arrives, then we will decide.”
So whilst nothing concrete has been decided about a transfer yet, should Spurs bother to chase a forward who has no experience in European football?
Well, they’d be stupid not to with his past scoring record. Since being at his current club Internacional, he has scored 68 goals in only 111 games, and assisting a further 15 goals despite only signing for the club when he was 20 years old.
Two years later, Damiao is a hot prospect who has generated interested from Spain, England and Italy. Attracting the top clubs in Europe, Tottenham will have to make an official enquiry very quickly in order to secure Damiao’s footballing skills for next season in their conquest to cement Champions League football.
