Daniel Alves wants Wilshere at Barcelona

wilshere.jpgThere are shockwaves going around the Football Transfer Tavern as Arsenal fans are digesting the latest claims from the Telegraph regarding their star player Jack Wilshere.

The midfielder has built on an already growing reputation this season since returning from his injury layoff and has caught the eye of more than a few clubs around Europe. Normally this would not be a problem but given that Arsenal have seen their ‘star’ player depart most summers, you can understand why their fans are a bit panicked.

The situation has not been helped by Barcelona’s Daniel Alves who has urged his club to sign the young player after facing him in the recent international match between Brazil and England. The full back claimed that: “He has a lot of quality and a great personality. If I was given the chance to choose, he is a player that I would sign for Barcelona.” He further lavished praise on the England international by noting that: “He is a great player who we have met playing against Arsenal and without doubt he can reach the height of the players we have here at Barcelona like Xavi and Iniesta.”

Given the fact that Arsenal’s season currently stands on a knife edge, someone of the calibre of Wilshere will not be happy if Champions League football does not arrive at the Emirates next season and that would only serve to increase the speculation over his future.

Nevertheless, because the Hertfordshire-born star has been at the club from such a young age, he confirmed to Sky Sports back in November 2011: “Can I promise I will be at Arsenal forever? I can promise that, yes.”

Would Wilshere even entertain a transfer away from his beloved Arsenal? Rate this rumour below.
