There is not much separating Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League table with the title race set to go down to the wire.
Considering that, ex-Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy believes luck could be the deciding factor come May, something the Reds have been blessed with in abundance this season.
“Little decisions have gone their way more than in previous seasons and more than other teams this season,” Murphy told talkSPORT when discussing the title race.
“Partly you make your own luck, because Liverpool have played brilliantly, they’ve lost one game in the league all season.
“They’re playing well but they’re also getting the rub of the green and it just makes me think it’s going to be their year,” the BBC Sport pundit concluded.
Looking at the luck Liverpool have already had this term following some calamitous errors from the likes of Jordan Pickford, Julian Speroni and Hugo Lloris, it is not hard to understand the point Murphy is trying to make.
Simply put, it really is starting to look like things are shaping up to be their year.
And looking at some of Manchester City’s remaining fixtures compared to theirs, you just would not be surprised at this point if the Premier League trophy ended up at Anfield.
There is still probably a twist or two left in this title race, while it would be silly to underestimate a Manchester City side who still have a game in hand.
Win that and the rest of their matches, and a successive Premier League crown is theirs. And as they showed last season, they are so easily capable of going on crazy winning streaks under Pep Guardiola.
As things stand, though, the stars are looking like they are starting to align for Klopp and his men.
