The Daily Telegraph have Southampton fans looking a little bit nervy here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as it has been claimed that Manchester United could well be set to make a £20 million bid for Luke Shaw.
It is worth noting that some of our punters are looking a little bit confused at the minute, and it takes our landlord to step in and note that we have also been told a bid for Leighton Baines has also been mooted.
One thing that does seem certain is that manager David Moyes is set on bringing in a younger left back – despite the obvious unhappiness that has caused Patrice Evra.
Southampton are standing firm, and have noted once again that Shaw is not for sale.
The Red Devils are set to face a huge battle to land Shaw, with not only the Saints dead set on keeping the left back at the club, but also Chelsea huge admirers of the starlet.
There is the cheaper and probably easier option of landing Fabio Coentrao on loan, but Moyes seems set on at least trying to get the young defender to join his project at Old Trafford.
Quite what Southampton think of that remains to be seen!
