West Ham United have secured their Premier League status for another season, however, the fans in the Transfer Tavern will be looking ahead to see whether one man will commit his future to the club in the summer.
The Hammers retained their top-flight status with a 2-0 victory against Leicester City last weekend, which meant that David Moyes had completed the job he was asked to do when he arrived at the London Stadium in November.
The locals in the bar have been vocal about how the club has been run and the Scotsman was not a popular choice to replace Slaven Bilic, and plenty of our punters have criticised him for the club’s inconsistency under his leadership.
However, it appears that Moyes has done enough to convince the hierarchy at West Ham that he is the right man to manage the club as it appears they have offered Moyes a new deal to remain in east London. The manager addressed the media on Wednesday afternoon ahead of West Ham’s clash against Manchester United and he suggested that his future is for him to decide.
“We’ve always said we will wait until after the end of the season and I won’t change my views until we get the season out of the way. We have put together as much as we can but ultimately, I have a decision to make,” he told football.london.
The West Ham locals in the Tavern will have a mixed reaction to the news that Moyes appears to have been offered a new deal to remain at the London Stadium as a number of the punters are unhappy with how the team has performed.
Many of the locals would have expected the former Manchester United manager to have struggled to keep their club up, having seen him fail at Sunderland, but will be delighted they remain in the Premier League at the end of the 2017/18 season.
However, he is not everybody’s favourite in the bar and a number of the punters will be calling for the club to hire a new manager who can install stability and consistency into the Hammers next season.
