Davy Klaassen close to completing Werder Bremen switch

Everton will be looking to improve on last season’s disappointing campaign and will want to ensure they have a squad as strong as possible.

Marco Silva was appointed as the new manager earlier this summer, however, his transfer activity this summer has been rather quiet. The former Watford boss has been reunited with Richarlison, however, he is yet to make any other moves so far.

The Toffees have one of the larger squads in the Premier League and are thought to be keen on offloading a number of players, something that has already taken place at Goodison Park.

Wayne Rooney has already left the club after being told he would not feature in Silva’s plans and it appears another man could be about to leave the Merseyside outfit after just one season.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, Davy Klaassen is close to finalising a deal with Werder Bremen. It is understood the Bundesliga side have offered Everton just over half of what the Toffees paid to initially bring him to the Premier League, with a deal at around £12.5million thought to have been agreed.

The Verdict:

The Holland international struggled during his debut season with Everton and found it even more difficult to make an impact when Ronald Koeman was ousted.

The midfielder will be looking to get his career back on track with Bremen and could have a chance of establishing himself as a first-team regular following the departure of Thomas Delaney.

Everton will be disappointed that the club will receive just a small chunk of what they paid for the former Ajax captain, however, they will be relieved to get him off their wage bill.
