Liverpool supporters have been pretty buoyant in the Transfer Tavern in the last few hours after seeing their side get back to winning ways in the Premier League on Tuesday night courtesy of a 3-0 victory at struggling Huddersfield Town.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the Terriers having lost to Swansea City in the league and indeed West Brom in the FA Cup, but the result never looked in doubt at the John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday night. Goals from Emre Can, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah secured a comfortable success for the Merseyside giants to suggest that their recent results were nothing more than a blip, with the three points moving them five points clear of fifth place Tottenham ahead of their clash with Manchester United this evening.
Subsequently, there have been many delighted Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, and they are likely to be further intrigued by a recent report from Calcio Mercato, which suggests that reported Reds target Han Kwang Song is to be recalled by his parent club Cagliari today, with a deadline day move possibly in the offing.
The 19-year-old has spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Serie B outfit Perugia, for whom he has managed an impressive seven goals and three assists in just 17 league games, helping them to 12th place in the Italian second tier.
And the North Korea international’s fine form for the club has reportedly attracted the attention of several top European clubs in recent times, including Klopp’s Liverpool, who are likely to be intrigued by potentially key developments as recent reports suggest that the forward has been recalled by his parent club, possibly opening the door to a deadline day move.
But whether the Reds do indeed seize the initiative and land Kwang Song before tonight’s 11pm deadline remains to be seen.
Landlord’s verdict: Liverpool’s only addition during the January transfer window is that of defender Virgil van Dijk, but the departure of Philippe Coutinho earlier this month left quite a hole in their attacking ranks – a hole Reds fans are hoping is filled by 11pm this evening.
And they may well get their wish as reports suggest that Liverpool target Han Kwang Song has been recalled by parent club Cagliari from a loan spell at Perugia, possibly opening the door for a deadline day move.
Other top European clubs are also thought to be interested in the forward, but with the player’s agent just recently confirming the Reds’ interest in the 19-year-old, a deadline day deal could well be in the offing for the Merseyside giants.
